In 2024 we changed to a multi-channel WhatsApp chat because the single ‘channel’ version had become too noisy and difficult to find important information.
The multiple channels make it easier to see messages say like the announcements that come from the club’s management, which everyone needs to know, and keep this information separate from all the other members’ channels that cover the other types of discussions that also happen in our group.
How does the community work?
Joining the community will automatically sign you up to Announcements channel. The messages sent in Announcements are restricted to the club’s management (Board of Directors and Officers). These are official communication relevant to all members and are sent as required and deemed appropriate by the club’s management.
Once you are a part of the community, you can join (and leave!) any of the other sub-groups you choose as relevant. Unlike the announcements group, all members can post to these groups.
Based on analysis of the topics used in our existing group, we plan to start with the following sub-groups and these will evolve over time based on usage and feedback.
We would love every member to join the new community so you stay up to date with important information and updates:
Our group was subjected to spammers before we validated joiners and to ensure it remains ‘Members Only’ use WhatsApp to request to join and your request is manually reviewed. When the requester’s mobile number matches a membership record we accept the request and reject it when either the number is unrecognised or the requester keeps the number hidden. Once authorised, you can join and remove yourself from the subchannels without any further validation.

In any case select the ‘Request to join button” and ensure you don’t hide your mobile and it is registered on your membership profile

In case your request is not approved please raise an incident ticket on https:/help.sasac.co.uk and we will contact you.
If you have questions about the WhatsApp community please ask Saleema and Lauren in the General Community questions group and one of them will try and help you.
