Joining SASAC is easy; the sections below contains the information needed to join. If you have any questions about joining please contact the Membership Team and the prices are shown in Membership Fees.


Diving

Membership renews each April. There are four types of diving memberships.

Adult Diver membership for one adult. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and additionally they can register their dependent children and one cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include access to free compressed air fills and when suitably qualified, access to mixed gasses and the club’s dive boat.

Senior Diver membership for one adult over state retirement age. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and additionally they can register their dependent children and one cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include access to free compressed air fills and when suitably qualified, access to mixed gasses and the club’s dive boat.

Student Diver membership for one adult in full time education and under 25. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and but unlike other adult divers they cannot register their dependent children or cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include access to free compressed air fills and when suitably qualified, access to mixed gasses and the club’s dive boat.

Junior Diver membership for one child over the age of 14. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is restricted to supervised BSAC activities. Members benefits include access to free compressed air fills and when suitably qualified, access to mixed gasses and the club’s dive boat

Snorkelling & Underwater Hockey

Membership renews each April. There are six types of snorkelling memberships.

Family Snorkeler for one adult. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver or BSAC snorkeler member or BOA Standard or BOA Student member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and additionally they can register their dependent children and one cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include, when suitably qualified, access to the club’s dive boat.

Adult Snorkeler for one adult. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver or BSAC snorkeler member or BOA Standard or BOA Student member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year but unlike the Family Snorkeler membership they cannot register their dependent children or cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include, when suitably qualified, access to the club’s dive boat.

University Snorkeler membership for one adult in full time education and under 25 and residing term time away from the local area. The use of the SASAC facilities is restricted to non term times only. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver or BSAC snorkeler or BOA Standard or BOA Student member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available outside of term times but unlike the Family Snorkeler membership they cannot register their dependent children or cohabiting adult with whom they share a recognised (spousal type) relationship as guests who can accompany them in the pool. Members benefits include, when suitably qualified, access to the club’s dive boat.

Junior Snorkeler for one child over the age of 8. The members’ must also be current BSAC diver or BSAC snorkeler member or BOA Junior member. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is restricted to supervised BSAC or BOA activities.

Swimming

Membership renews each April. There are three types of swimming memberships.

Cold Water membership for one adult. The members’ access and use of the swimming pool is restricted from 1st October until 31st May. Outside of these times the membership is equivalent to a Social Member. Applications to join as a Cold Water member can me made at any time and spaces are not currently restricted.

Single membership for one adult. Unlike the Cold Water membership the members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and additionally they can register their dependent children who are under 18 as guests who can accompany them in the pool.

Joint membership for two cohabiting adults who are in a recognised (spousal type) relationship . Unlike the Cold Water membership the members’ access and use of the swimming pool is available all year and additionally they can register their children as guests who can accompany them in the pool.

The spaces allocated to Single and Joint memberships are restricted. Registered children who turn 18 may apply for Single membership and other applications are restricted to the spaces that become available each April when current members do not renew are offered to applicants via a lotter system. There is no wait list.

Lottery

We do not have a wait list but run an annual lottery for the limited number of spaces that do become available each year when existing members do not renew. Any available spaces are offered first to Cold Water members who have been members for more than 12 months. Any remaining are offered randomly via a lottery to the remaining Cold Water members and members of the public who registered for the lottery in the previous year ending 31st March.

If you haven’t been offered a place by 31st May then you have been unsuccessful and will need to re-apply for the following years lottery. Applications will not be rolled forward to the next year.

We cannot respond to further enquiries regarding you lottery application due to the volume of enquiries made.


Social Membership

We also offer social membership of the club for those members who only wish to take part in club events.
