All adult members are inducted upon joining and complete a refresher every 3 years. The induction session is designed to emphasize the club’s safety culture and the role every member has in accident prevention and enforcing our Pool Safety Requirements (PSR).
It provides the member with the information about our premises, pool, safety equipment and ensures they are aware of their responsibilities, liabilites and obligations to deliver the alternative lifeguard measures and enforce the PSR as part of their terms and conditions of membership.
Upon completion the member is assessed and to pass they must adequately demonstrate they know
The inductors (session organisers) are volunteers who schedule the events based on demand and their availability.
Choose an available induction events from the scheduled sessions published on the Event Calendar and run the “sign-up” wizard to join the event.
The spaces are restricted so use the “withdraw” option if you later realise you cannot attend so the space is availble to others. The inductor (session organiser) is contacted when participant sign-up or withdraw and the participants are contacted if the session has to rescheduled or cancelled.
Remember to dress appropriately for the prevailing outside weather conditions as the session are run outdoors.
Use the session as an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the club.
On being successfully inducted you will be given your membership/access card and a key to access the building.
The Swimmer Competency Test requires the member to demonstrate they are a competent and capable swimmer as defined by the criteria published in the Pool Safety Requirements and they can comfortably and confidently:
Swimmer members usually are assessed immediately following their induction but they can opt to be assessed as a later date as long as it is completed when they first use the pool. In this case the swimmer member must arrange for another adult member to assess them. Diver, Snorkeler and UWH player members are assessed as part of their qualification or training session.
The swim assessor can be any adult member who witnessed another member demonstrate the competent and capable swimmer requirements. Members cannot be their own swim assessor, meaning self assessment is not permitted.
It is the responsibility of the person being assessed to check their membership profile has been updated by their assessor.
The assessor will record the results of the swim assessment on the membership profile of the person they assessed.
